Another private venture telephone was the 1000 type, produced in 1953 onwards for use on private systems. It was based on the 1947 phone from Ericsson of Sweden, as shown on the second photograph above. Both GEC and Ericsson Telephones produced the design with their own type of handsets. In design, it followed the 300 Type shape but had more rounded features. There was no pull-out tray or support for complex plan set working. The example in the first image above is a rare green version made by Ericsson Telephones for Guernsey, as evidenced by the shield transfer on the front.
