As the candlestick gradually gave way to the integrated handset, not all body designs changed with it. This French telephone of 1924 is remarkably like a candlestick phone with a handset in place of the receiver. It also has a watch receiver at the back, reminding us how difficult transmission was in those days – though this feature continued on French phones for many years.
